My Super Experimental Garden

Last night Brady and I planted the seeds for our veggie garden in the indoor seed starter kit. Brady was SOOOOOOOO excited to help. I really cannot stress this point enough.

Sadly, I didn't take any pictures of this. You'll understand as we go.

First, we had to pour tons of water over our pellets to get them to expand.
Brady wanted to help.
This was super fun for him, not so fun for my floor.

THEN came the planting part.
I tried to regulate by holding the seeds in my palm and letting him pinch and plant.
I have to tell you, I'm pretty impressed with this kid's fine motor skills. He can pinch seeds like no one's business.

But you know he HAD to hold seeds in his palm. I understand.
So I let him hold the seeds.
I'm really interested to see what pops up in my garden this year.
The thing is, the kit is set up in 6x6 rows. Which meant that when he went to put the scallion seeds into their little cell, he was so focused on the seeds pinched between his fingers that he forgot all about the seeds cupped in his hands.
I fished scallion seeds out of cantaloupe cells.
I pinched red pepper seeds out of watermelon cells.

We may very well be growing the first chive-infused cucumber tomato hybrid plant over here.

Possibly the most heartbreaking part, though, was when we finished and put the plastic cover on and he looked up at me and said "I want to eat our watermelon now".

Ohhhhh, buddy. You're in for a long wait. And that's if they even grow....
